It’s a long time since I have posted a Simple Pleasure post, but this qualifies. This is our kitchen window on a late summer’s evening. I’ve had a lovely, quiet bank holiday weekend with my hubby and dog, and this is a peaceful close to that weekend. Beautiful.
I’m taking dressmaking lessons. In some ways this could count as a simple pleasure – learning to craft your own clothes – but in reality it’s not all that simple. I’ve picked a relatively complicated pattern, chosen to make a ball dress as my first project, and selected some difficult fabrics to work with, all in addition to learning new techniques. All that complication aside, though, I find myself entirely absorbed by the process and totally in flow when I’m working on it. And that makes it simply pleasurable.
The dog & I went on a cross-country run this morning – I took the chance to wear my new off-road trainers that I bought several months ago. I really would have liked to have shared a photo of the glorious view – sun streaming through the mist onto the dewy grass – but I didn’t take my camera with me, so we’ll have to make do with a “before” shot of my trainers instead.
Another gorgeous sky on a dusk walk – this time during our camping holiday in Somerset. This simple pleasures series definitely has a not-very-subtle theme to it.
